Default High Quality 4vs4

I feel there is a need for a high quality 4vs4 PvP setting.

Right now, If you want some skilled PvP, you either do GvG or ToPK. However, for the casual player who's also quite skilled at PvP, it's hard to get into a a skilled Guild for GvG with such a low time commitment. Furthermore, for ToPK it usually always takes 1-2 hours to form a good party, which usually leads to spending more time finding a party than actually playing.

But I happen to have 3 other friends who are quite skilled at PvP too, so for the few hours we're all free on the weekend, we play some team 4vs4 Arena. But as many of you know, the quality of PvP in there is no where compared to GvG, or even ToPK. 80% of the time we fight against a team that basically was randomly formed. We always pray to fight against a decent guild with a well designed 4 man team, but when we do fight against a guild, it ends up that they just randomly formed 4 people among their large guild.

GvG is high quality competition, but no casual player can ever hope to find 7 other casual players with the exact same schedule to actually have fun when they play.

ToPK is high quality enough competition for me (because of its tournament structure), but it takes too long to form a good party. And even if i do resort to this, you'll never have the opportunity to create a very unique build requiring very specific skills because you're always with random people

So I'm petitioning for some high quality 4vs4 PvP.

Anyone Else feel they're stuck in this situation? I.e., Bored with Team Arena, but don't have the time investment to have fun with GvG or ToPK?

I play arenas a lot when there aren't enough guildies online for gvg or hoh, and I have to say I agree with you. I don't even bother thinking much about arena builds because I know the vast majority of opponents are going to be pushovers. I just look at arenas as a place to test builds or farm faction. You didn't specify HOW exactly you would implement high-level 4v4 but I assume you mean a ladder or something, which I would be for.

You know, I feel sympathy for you, but you have to realize that GW is just a game and you have to play it the way it is, and not count on the devs to tailor the experience to fit you.

Is your problem that you win too much? Shucks! You have to lose every once in a while...why not /w the enemy team and try to be friends with them? Or if they're a guild group, you can join their guild. Sure, you might not be able to find 7 other casual players that share your exact time schedule, but I'm sure you could find 70 like-minded players that would join you in GvG every so often.

On the other hand, it would be kind of nice to have a 4v4 ladder, similar to the level system in WC3. Any unique combination of 4 accounts that played a team arena match together would get a win/loss record attributed to it, with your overall win/loss record or average level across all groups of which you were a part factored in. Maybe fame could be factored in, or maybe fame would govern the system exclusively. Maybe you could earn 1 fame if you had 10, or 20 or whatever consecutive wins.

Rather than having a 4v4 arena for pro, I would prefer anet to make the ToPK more casual friendy. At least we don't need to wait 30 minutes to get a PUG that would quickly be killed by organized teams in minutes.

The seach function doesn't let me search 4v4 nor GVG, and this topic wasn't in the sticky, so I apologize if this happens to be a duplicate suggestion.

So what exactly is your suggestion..??

Wouldn't introducing "high quality 4x4" simply make this PvP arena suffer from the problems that affect Tombs, with regards to casual play.

If it didn't how could be classed as being "high quality"...??

I wasn't specific on what type of arena I would like simply because many things will appeal to me. What I am asking for is a PvP outlet that a casual skilled player can enjoy. Such possible arena types would be a 4vs4 tournament or 4vs4 ladder.

I don't think a 4vs4 tournament will be plagued with as many problems as tombs simply because it takes a lot less time to gather 4 people. It's my opinion that for the casual player, finding 3 other friends to play with is much easier than finding 7 friends to play with. In ToPK if you only have 3 friends on, it's very difficult to form a party in a timely manner.

And will the 'elitism' complex be moved into a 4vs4 tournament if it's implemented? Probably, but it'll be much easier for a non-elitist to bypass simply by the fact that it's much easier to get 3 other friends to play with you than 7.

4v4 tournament with teams fighting through stages to reach a final Champions Map which your team would then defend untill defeated. Perhaps if you held the Champions Map for 10 consecutive wins you'd get a reward? Maybe even some small amount of fame?
